On another unbelievably beautiful day at La Moye ~ it seems more like autumn than mid -November ~ 76 members played in the annual Members Day Team competition.

Playing in teams of four, with a shotgun start to ensure that all arrived back in time for lunch, a convivial day was had by all. Some teams scored well, some not so well ~ but all contributed to a most enjoyable Members Day!

On a beautifully sunny, late October Saturday, members set out to win the Nugent Trophy ~ to score the best 2 Ball Better Ball stableford score over the shortened 15 Hole course at La Moye.

With very light breezes and warm sunshine, the course looked in tremendous condition and it seemed inevitable that a high score would be needed to win the Trophy this year.

So it proved, with 38 pts over 15 Holes, Gary McLelland (20) & Andy McGuigan (20) scored 21 pts going out and a very creditable 17 pts coming back over just 6 holes. Congratulations to the winners!!

The prospect of fine prizes tempted many golfers from all clubs on the island to enter the 2011 La Moye Foursomes.

On a gloriously 'blue sky' day, bathing the course with sunshine, 168 golfers prepared to play their best.

Despite the sunshine, some golfers managed to enjoy the company with which they played rather than their golf (or their partners' golf!) ~ but there were some high scores to contend for the Winners' circle.

Best score of the day was Phil Duffin (LMGC) & Paul Burrows (RJGC) with a most impressive 41 pts, followed by Dave Carey & his son Cameron on 39 pts and Andrew Videgrain & Chris Robin in 3rd place with 38 pts.

Particular thanks to Richard Cutler (Course Manager) and his team for presenting the course in such fine condition, despite it being Course Maintenance week.

The last Sunday Stableford of the season was bathed in sunshine and some very good scores were achieved.

A gorgeous day dawned with the course looking immaculate and over 100 members looking to win the last Qualifying trophy competition before Holes 10 - 13 close for course improvements on 3rd October.

Some early scores (36's, 39 and even a 41) showed that the winning score would be high.

However the best score of the day was 42 pts ~ to be shared by three golfers: Alex Luce (consistently playing to 13/14 over the last few years ~ now off 11), Jack Gibson (who's played in this year's victorious Hampshire 7's team and an aspiring Junior who's dropped from 14 handicap to 7 this year) and Steve Veitch (another Hampshire 7's player who's dropped from 8 to 5 this year).

Winning on countback with 22 on the back 9 (with a blob on the 10th and 4 birdies) was Steve Veitch. The Trophy and Congratulations go to Steve!!

Steve has also managed to win the Bobby Peel Trophy too, for the most consistent performance in 10 trophy competitions this season!

Overcast skies and threatening rain greeted the competitors for the TEL Final. With all to play for and many prizes on offer, 54 golfers set out on Saturday afternoon to battle the elements.

Many of the early scores would not trouble the winners circle but as the day wore on, some good scores were to be found. Clearly quality showed as the best two scores of the day were Mike Deeley with 38 pts, and Andre Bell with 37 pts!!

The overall TEL prize was won by James Ling with 154 pts. James could not play on the day due to his attendance at a wedding. However he did take a break from the Wedding Reception and arrived in time for for the Prize Giving and to claim his prize!! Thanks to Paul Mee who hosted the Prize Giving with his usual zeal and enthusiasm.

Special thanks particularly to all the sponsors: John Poynton, Charlie Fortune, Mick Emmanuel, and especially Michael Clarke of UBS for their sponsorship throughout the season and particularly for the Final.
